History

Before it had a name, Sendas was often dreamed of.
We did not know each other yet when our search for dignity and respect for our children, and the possibility of offering them a natural way of learning based on first-hand experiences, led us first to Rebeca Wild and then to the proposal of María Montessori and doubts were removed. Its solidity, richness, depth, and exquisite practical application became the ground under our feet.
And so, as a result of a vital need, we find ourselves working together, with surprise, tenacity and enthusiasm in the construction of an illusion and a common desire in the Sierra de Aracena.
Sendas is the main project of the Sierra de Aracena Montessori Association that we created at the beginning. Its purpose is not only the management of this educational centre, but also to amplify how Montessori is viewed in all areas, including public education, working from the HUMANITY and DIGNITY of the children and accompanying the development of their full potential.
Our common dream was translated into a manageable and domestic space. Our vocation is to maintain ourselves as a small learning community full of familiar faces, both for the children and for the families. Cozy like home and spacious enough to allow the children to choose their company, according to their affinities.
Several years have preceded us and we work and live with gratitude to the many people who, with their trust and generosity (in quantity), have allowed this dream to come to fruition and follow a path, in which analysis always accompanies us to improve and celebrate.
At this moment we are working to accredit ourselves as an International School recognised by the Junta de Andalucía, currently operating under the protection of the Sierra de Aracena Montessori Association, with the voluntary participation of its members.
